ARTIST STATEMENT
The act of painting portraits, as well as landscapes and still lifes, creates a portal into a place of inner peace. Whether I’m painting in plein air, or painting portraits in my studio, I have an attachment to my subject. Information is gathered by using an "unspoken dialogue" and sensitive observations from the subject. I paint directly from life, not from a photograph, responding to this experience through the use of composition, light, form, texture, color and space.
